Vow4Mal

Vow4Mal is a fund at the Santa Barbara Foundation focusing on the education and prevention of drinking and driving. The fund was established in January 2014 to honor the life of Mallory Rae Dies, who was hit and killed by a drunk driver. Community supporters, friends and family continue to rally around the issue, working to eliminate excuses for and change stereotypes about drinking and driving. The goal of the Vow to Mallory Foundation is to reduce the damage done to the community by the preventable plague of drinking and driving.

Designated Hero Program

Vow4MAL-volunteersOnce a month, a Santa Barbara venue hosts a Designated Hero night to promote and incentivize designated driving and responsible drinking. Every designated driver who attends a Designated Hero night has the opportunity to win prizes, ranging from candy and parking passes to restaurant gift certificates and electronics. All Designated Hero participants must pass a breathalyzer test to be eligible for prizes.

John Givens’ Farm

John Givens Farm

Mission Statement

John Givens’ organic farm spans 175 acres spread along 30 miles of the Santa Barbara Coastline, providing fresh, local, organic produce with exceptional standards all year long. Innovative produce cultivation synchronizes with the diverse microclimates on the farm, extending growing seasons and produce availability to their CSA, Something Good Organics.

Caribbean Coffee Company Involvement

Organic farms needs good soil, and good soil comes from compost! Caribbean Coffee Company honors our sustainable business practices by donating organic coffee grinds and appropriate waste to John Givens’ Farm to be composted. Coffee grinds boost nitrogen levels, and provide trace minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and copper – perfect growing conditions!
