About Transition House

Transition House is Santa Barbara’s only homeless shelter and permanent housing provider serving families with children exclusively. The agency provides a full continuum of anti-poverty services as well as children’s programs. Along with shelter and meeting basic needs, Transition House provides parents with intensive case management, career development assistance, and free educational programs. During their stay at Transition House, families learn money management skills and participate in a mandatory savings plan.

For children, Transition House offers free infant care, homework help and tutoring, the Technology and Literacy for Children program, a Teen Program, and referrals to other social service agencies as needed. Transition House seeks to return normalcy to homeless kids in crisis by celebrating birthdays and hosting holiday parties, providing school clothing and shoes, and giving them school supplies, backpacks, and transportation.
